On Feeding Alligators

Update, folks, Finally it appears that the Politicians have heard
from the American People, its hard to believe and harder to imagine.

Today I received an email with a very thoughtful examination of what is going on in the congress while we struggle to manage our finances our congress has no understanding of its own job.

Winston Churchill once said,

“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile,
hoping it will eat him last.”

I know you get that simple concept … but for Republicans in Congress, it’s harder to grasp than nuclear physics. Republicans in the House and Senate are working with noted anti-gunners like Senator Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy to fashion “reasonable” gun control legislation.

Schumer and McCarthy are enlisting accomplices like Republican Senators Tom Coburn and John McCain and Congressmen Eric Cantor and Scott Rigell to achieve “bi-partisan” anti-gun legislation.

Senator Schumer recently said: “I think you’re going to see … in the next week or two a proposal that has broad support for universal background checks … And I think you’re going to find much broader support than we ever imagined.”

Make no mistake, Schumer isn’t just talking about background checks, he’s talking about mass registration of all firearms and gun owners in America.

This isn’t about public safety, it’s about government tracking gun owners through Form 4473.

To make matters worse, Republicans leaders like Senators Tom Coburn and John McCain and Congressmen Eric Cantor and Scott Rigell are preparing to give up without a fight.

You see Coburn, McCain and company think they can game the system.

They’ve been in Washington D.C. too long — thinking that “compromise” is “success.”

You and I know that “compromise” is just a fancy way to say “surrender.”

Republicans who follow Coburn, McCain, Cantor and Riggel miss a fundamental point …

The anti-gunners won’t be satisfied until they’ve banned all firearms from civilian ownership.

Registration-via-background check is just the first step.

Appeasing the anti-gunners will only speed up their next assault on our rights.

You and I can’t afford for House and Senate Republicans to preemptively surrender this important battle.

Expanding background checks and creating a massive, federally-run mental health database is only going to accomplish one thing: deny law-abiding citizens the right to keep and bear arms.

You see, background checks aren’t about public safety, they’re about building a government-controlled database of all firearms and gun owners in the country.

Background checks are registration.

So, while Republicans like Senators Tom Coburn and John McCain are clamoring to appear “bi-partisan,” they’re really just speeding up Schumer’s Gun Registration Scheme.

In making his case for new government restrictions on your gun rights, Senator Coburn said recently that gun owners should be “licensed” to sell or transfer a firearm.

Senator McCain said “I applaud” the efforts of those working to compromise your right away.

Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor said he’s eager to “beef up” the federal Brady Registration check just like he voted to do in his home state of Virginia.

And Congressman Rigell said his Republican colleagues “are generally supportive” of new restrictions on your gun rights.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be eaten by the crocodile, first or last.

That’s why I need your help.

Please contact these Republican ring-leaders and give them a piece of your mind.

Remind John McCain, Tom Coburn, Eric Cantor and Scott Rigell that working with anti-gunners will only get more gun control, not less.

Capitol Hill sources tell me this legislation could be moving in the Senate in the next few week.

That’s why it’s so important that we turn up the heat on the Republicans in Congress.

Gun owners must urge them to dump the McCarthy-Schumer Gun Registration Scheme.

Please, contact them today.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President

Urge them to dump Schumer and McCarthy and abandon their Gun Registration Scheme.
