Criminals will still have guns…

Spread the love

No matter what you think the truth about Gun Laws is that they do not work because criminals will always do what they want and the reason why is simple they are not afraid of breaking the law, Duh, they are criminals.

Gun rights advocates have long been chided as “crackpots” by naïve liberals. Many have sat around the dinner table on holidays and formed a de facto salon of opinions, discussing the issues of the day, and have heard these words uttered from know-it-all liberal friends and relatives, “Do you really think that the government is going to come and confiscate your gun?”

Yes, we do. Liberals call them “gun nuts,” but those who have long warned against such tyranny seem more like prophets.

Citizens of New York are awakening to the nightmare of gun confiscation as over 500 notices have already been sent out, demanding that those who possess firearms that have been made illegal are required to turn them over to the authorities.

Personal Liberty Shutdown

Fox News Reported on the gun confiscation which was first reported on byTheTruthAboutGuns.com.

The New York City Police Department is taking aim at owners of certain shotguns and rifles, telling them all long guns with a five-round or more capacity must be turned in, altered or taken out of town.

An estimated 500 recipients of the notices, which were mailed on Nov. 18, were given the options to surrender their gun, permanently move the gun out of city jurisdiction or employ a licensed gunsmith to modify the weapon to get into compliance with the law. Rifles and shotguns with a capacity of five or more rounds are affected.

An NYPD spokeswoman told FoxNews.com the initiative has been in practice since 2010.

But this year is the first time critics say the notices were so widely dispersed. The notice was first reported on the website TheTruthAboutGuns.com.

New York State has the strictest gun laws in the country. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has made it a priority of his to pull illegal handguns off the streets and directly links these guns to violent crimes. But critics say the real problem is illegal handguns in the hands of criminals, not long guns owned by law-abiding citizens.

TTAG was clear that the gun confiscation is as a result of a 2010 law and is not a result of the recently-passed SAFE Act.

This is a criminal’s dream come true. A law-abiding populace that is being systematically disarmed of their legally-owned protections only signals an “open season” for criminals who wish to target the law-abiding.

Further, what this latest action indicates is that while many will comply, many others will not; this will force the City of New York’s hand and they will have to decide if whether or not they wish to look weak or if they wish to be pictured kicking in doors and confiscating weapons- a hallmark display of force by tyrants and thugs.

For years, anti-gun rights activists have been asking the wrong questions. Piers Morgan has exemplified the chorus of naivety by repeatedly questioning, “Why would someone need 30 rounds?” Others have maintained that “reasonable” restrictions are acceptable, but have overlooked the ironclad doctrine that is the Second Amendment. They have chided those who are fiercely protective of our rights by pretending that the government is, somehow, unwilling to confiscate legally-owned weapons; however, the ugly truth is that gun confiscation happens and one benign acceptance of this tyranny only welcomes others.

It all sounds harmless enough- “common sense” magazine restrictions, “reasonable” firearm ownership limitations and simple gun registries all sound benign. However, the truth is after coming after the firearms the government deems “unnecessary,” for the populace to have, they use these gun registries to come for their collection. When they do so, only the law-abiding hand them over and criminals remain armed at a time when law-abiding citizens are becoming more vulnerable.
