Ban the internet?

Do you want your children to have the same opportunity as you did when you were growing up?

Then listen up.

If you value your freedom, then you had better speak up otherwise soon you might find you no longer have the right to free speech, The Senate is considering a bill that is just plain wrong.

You might soon no longer be able to watch video on youtube because of this bill.

The problem with this law is that, it would result in censorship without the right to due process as it allows the DOJ and copyright holders to obtain court orders before accused sites have had a chance to defend themselves in court. Sites could be seized and services suspended simply based on the one-sided arguments proffered by the DOJ or copyright holders.

The world’s largest lobbying organization, the US Chamber of Commerce…

is supporting this and it is wrong.

along with the biggest lobbyists

representing the recording and movie industry, have ramped up their efforts to get PROTECT IP approved as quickly as possible.

Will you support our work by becoming a monthly Demand Progress sustainer?  Our small, dedicated, (under-paid) staff is entirely member-supported.  (You can cancel your donations at any time.)

Yes! I’ll become a Demand Progress sustainer today.
I can’t, but I’ll click here to chip in $5 or $10 today so you can keep fighting the Internet Blacklist Bill and protecting civil liberties.
But now the good news: Why is the Chamber having to go to such great lengths to ram their bill through Congress?  It’s because of Demand Progress members like you.  More from Techdirt:

This is the first stage of the endgame to get the law passed.  To be honest, I’m surprised they’ve even had to go this far, because from the beginning it looked like they had the easy support.  The fact that they felt the need to break out this little stunt shows that the opposition to PROTECT IP has actually drummed up enough noise that some politicians are concerned about the very real unintended consequences of the law.

Youtube felony

If the Senate has its way you might soon become a criminal facing federal
prision time for up to five years.

huge fines, how would you pay for a fine, sell your house?

Sell everything you own just to try to stay out of jail?

Is this an attempt by the senate to bypass the constitution?

It is really a serious problem, simply because this bill is allegedly so badly framed that even a child might become a felon under this bill, it is allegedly opressive and might even be illegal.  Yet, our congress passed on it, again allegedly.

Imagine how this might work if the wrong people decided to do the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Warning watching this video might some day be a federal crime if the Senate has their way.

Senate Bill felony

Will you stand idly by and watch as Senators you elected make criminals out of your children?

Soon it could be a felony and a criminal matter to do such things as these, while Mr. Weiner was definitly in the wrong, should be really be working on behalf of the a very small percentage of the population?

Congressional representative Anthony Weiner, admitted that he allegedly made some terrible mistakes while sitting at his computer at home, If this man can make a mistake then what about the thousands of people who would be effected if S978 becomes a law…

In what is a real shocking issue the Senate, apparently is seriously considering the use of a bill

S. 978

That would criminalize just about any kind of copyrighted material that is shown to 10 or more people over a period of over 180 days, which means that this would effects millions of Americans.

Millions, of cases in an already over burdened, judicial system.

Enforcement of this bill would require literally billions of dollars in funds.

When you think about it, the average person on youtube is between the ages, of 18 to 25 which effectively means that the objective of this law would be to place your children in jail.

That my friends seems to me is not a very nice thing to be doing…

When we are faced with the single most challenging issue to effect the US in years, apparently we have some senators that want to put most of the US in jail, that is just insane.
