Reject the Senate

The Senate wants to put your child in jail for watching a youtube video?

What no way, I mean dont they have enough problem with the debt and the economy without trying to pass a law to make it a felony to watch a video online?

Really this is the hope and the change you voted for?

TAKE ACTION: OPPOSE THE PROTECT IP ACT

We knew that members of Congress and their business allies were gearing up to pass a new version of the Internet Blacklist Bill — which more than 325,000 Demand Progress members helped block last winter — but we never expected it to be this atrocious.

Senators Leahy and Hatch revised the original bill, introducing new legislation that would institute a censorship regime in the United States. Under PROTECT-IP, the Department of Justice could force search engines, browsers, and service providers to block users’ access to websites, and scrub the American Internet clean of evidence of their existence.

Email your lawmakers and tell them to kill PROTECT IP — the Internet Blacklist Bill — by clicking here.

We need to stop this bill because it is not good for America.

Leahy constitutional?

Is it legal for a Senator to allegedly attempt to subvert a valid ruling made by a sitting federal judge?

If the congress had every opportunity to consider this issue before then why is it now somehow more important?

Now that a Federal Judge has made a ruling concerning the ability of the Government to force a man against his will to buy or make a purchase of a product.

Rightly so, the result is that in fact not only is it illegal, but could and perhaps even should be considered criminal.

So now we have Senator Leahy which is now calling for hearings, on the constitutionality of this same issue.

Since, we have a separation of powers in this nation, Constitutionality, is a primary concern.

Depending on what the Senator plans to try and do, this could be considered illegal and perhaps even the senator could be in contempt of a federal court by attempting to subvert a valid constitutional ruling by a sitting Federal Judge, this could be a significant issue, which apparently the Senator has not fully considered.

So how can one man, a democrat, who allegedly may have a vested interest in this Health care law, perhaps be stepping into a big mess here.

It is of interest to see how the Senator may act in this instance, because our Constitution is clear on this issue and it has been decided by a Federal Judge, so the separation of powers comes into play, the Senate is not the Judicial branch, it is the Legislative branch, which means that if they try to do something here that may be considered criminal could the Senator actually be Arrested?

That might sound amazing but it could be true, if the Senator takes steps to invalidate a ruling made by a Federal Judge, which would pit two branches of government against oneĀ  another.
