Papa John’s founder John Schnat­ter will step down as CEO next month, weeks after crit­i­ciz­ing NFL lead­er­ship for its han­dling of the nation­al anthem protests, accord­ing to the Asso­ci­at­ed Press.

“The com­pa­ny said Thurs­day that Schnat­ter remains chair­man but will be replaced as chief exec­u­tive by Chief Oper­at­ing Offi­cer Steve Ritchie on Jan. 1,” reports AP.

So, what has hap­pened to this once alleged­ly great food shop?

One thing seems clear its stock val­ue has declined over time and appar­ent­ly the board of direc­tors thought that fir­ing Papa was the right thing to do…

Only time will tell but it sure looks like who ever is run­ning or alleged­ly ruin­ing the Brand name of Papa John’s Piz­za is just not that good at mak­ing seri­ous busi­ness deci­sions.
